Biography: Mareasa R. Isaacs received a Master’s degree in Psychiatric Social Work from Simmons College in Boston, MA and a Ph.D. in Mental Health Administration and Policy from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. Dr. Isaacs is currently an Associate Professor at the Howard University School of Social Work in Washington, D.C. She is also the Interim Director for the newly formed National Alliance of Multi-Ethnic Behavioral Health Associations (NAMBHA). For the last six years, Dr. Isaacs held the position of Senior Associate at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, Baltimore, MD. Prior to joining the Foundation in October of 1997, Dr. Isaacs was a partner in the Human Service Collaborative (HSC) of Washington, D.C. Dr. Isaacs has over 25 years of experience in government and nonprofit organizations. She has held senior executive positions in child mental health within the New York State Office of Mental Health and the District of Columbia Commission on Mental Health Services. Dr. Isaacs is also a recognized expert in the area of cultural competence and has trained, developed curricula, and written extensively on the subject.
