Synopsis: Are systems of care capable of improving child welfare outcomes if they are not culturally competent? Is it possible for a child welfare agency participating in systems of care to be culturally competent if they are not in compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act? Are words “culturally competent” in the mission statement enough evidence of compliance with systems of care values? These questions will be the primary focus of this poster.
