Synopsis: While inter-agency collaboration is regarded as a critical component of effective care, research has not explored the cost or predictors of collateral activities. This study presents data from a sample of 1639 patients on the ratio between direct and collateral contacts. Results indicated a 3:1 ratio, although it varied by treatment phase. The best predictors were tied to parent variables (e.g., maternal psychiatric history), although some child variables (e.g., history of abuse) were also predictive.
