Synopsis: The purpose of this study was to examine changes in the relationships between organizations that were associated with a grant to provide transition to adulthood supports for youths with serious mental health conditions to determine whether they would change towards greater service continuity and communications across the child and adult sectors. This study examined communication between organizations (e.g. human service agencies, schools, job programs) using social network analysis and reasons for changes through in-depth qualitative interviews. Findings indicate that greater communication across child and adult sectors are associated with the grant’s implementation. Reasons for change will be discussed.

Synopsis: Many studies have reported that transition age youth with serious mental health conditions get in trouble with the law at alarmingly high rates. The first part of this symposium presents findings from the MA Transition Age Youth Arrest Study that identify youths with serious mental health conditions that are at imminent risk of arrest. The second part of this presentation describes the approach to modifying and initial model of an adaptation to Multisystemic Therapy for use with young adults in this high risk population.
