Synopsis: Project Connect is a multi-layered program to increase mental health identification and service access for juvenile probationers, targeting probation practices via in-service training, clear referral protocols and greater inter-agency collaboration. Under Project Connect , probation officers demonstrated increased levels of effective referral practices; service access was more than twice as likely under Project Connect, even adjusting for demographics and offense characteristics and for the availability of mental health professionals in that county.
