Synopsis: 230 Parents of children with psychotic disorders were surveyed regarding their decision making process in selecting home based or residential treatment for their children. This quantitative research study identified factors that significantly impacted parents decisions and sheds light on the process parents undertake to make the decision. Patterns describing differences between parents selecting residential from community based care are highlighted as well. Implications for policy and practice are discussed.
