Synopsis: This paper describes the Multilevel Framework for Integrated Formative and Summative Evaluation, designed to improve mental health services at a local level without compromising the summative functions that inform policy and expand the research base. The framework organizes evaluation activities by level of assessment (i.e., youth, family, service/provider, and system) and stage of assessment (i.e., immediate, proximal, and distal). We provide examples to illustrate how the framework is currently being used in children’s mental health.
