Synopsis: We examined service recommendations and service use of adolescents at high (n=47) and low (n=197) risk of significant mental health problems as measured by a school-based mental health screening. A greater proportion of those at high than low risk was recommended for school or community services and subsequently used the recommended mental health services. The findings support voluntary mental health screening services as a mechanism to promote mental health referral and service utilization in adolescents.
