Synopsis: Children with serious emotional disturbance (SED) are challenges for the children’s mental health service system of care. We describe the demographic, psychiatric characteristics and hospitalization rates of a sample of children with SED. These children were referred to a single point of access process for determination of and assignment to an appropriate in-home community mental health service. The service targeted in this study is the Home and Community Based Services Waiver for children with SED.
