Synopsis: Participatory Research was used in conducting an evaluation of needs and services in an urban American Indian Community. This community was engaged using a Participatory Research model in developing research questions and evaluation measures, implementing the research through community-trained researchers, data analyses, data interpretation and dissemination of findings. Further, the community used this data to develop a mental health service system model. Lessons learned and community applications will be discussed.
