Synopsis: Introduction: To describe documented treatment for common mental health problems among children receiving care in California's publicly-funded outpatient programs. Methodology: Medical record abstraction using a statewide, longitudinal cohort of 813 (weighted n = 7560) children ages 6.0-16.9 years with at least 3 months of outpatient care. Findings: Seventy-five percent of children received individual therapy, 46% family contact, 45% service linkage, and care did not vary by condition. Fifty percent and 45% received medication treatment for ADHD or depression, respectively. Conclusion: Documented use of evidence-based psychosocial treatments merits improvement.
