Synopsis: Seclusion and restraint are risky, poorly-researched interventions. Children with serious emotional disturbances interface with a variety of settings where seclusion and restraint use poses real dangers. This presentation discusses efforts made in Texas to identify and promote the use of safe alternatives to seclusion and restraint across a variety of child serving agencies and highlights how leadership impacts cross-agency policy change to support the use of more effective practices.
