Synopsis: This poster examines the role of parent advocates within the systems of care (SOC) model in Cuyahoga County. Focus group data was analyzed utilizing grounded theory coding techniques. Three categories emerged: Unique roles, similarities and differences; and "having been there". Quantitative data suggests advocates are involved primarily in family team meetings (55%) and home visits (19%). Practitioners know that advocates are instrumental within SOC efforts; however, researchers are only beginning to systematically understand their role.
