Synopsis: Since 2002, the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania (MHASP) has provided an eight week workshop to over 285 families in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The workshops expose caregivers to information on the child-serving systems. Sessions are child-centered, family focused, community-based and culturally appropriate. PEAK participants are provided guidance on how to obtain behavioral health services for children under 12. PEAK's success stems from the premise that parents know their child and therefore make the best advocate for their child's behavioral health needs. Workshops have been offered in English, Spanish, Cambodian and tailored for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
