Synopsis: This presentation will describe the implementation and evaluation of a therapeutic visiting program for families in the child welfare system. Research in child welfare, attachment theory, and child development, underscore the importance of a service delivery model that includes mental health practice. The current model integrates evidence based child development and parenting guidance with mental health intervention and systematic assessment in order to support the goals of planning and improve outcomes. This is delivered within coached family visits. Preliminary data including: family strengths; system resources; child development and mental health; parental mental health, and parenting will be discussed.
