Synopsis: Many communities are now seeking to nurture the mental health of infants, toddlers and young children. These efforts are occurring in creative ways that often do not involve federal Systems of Care funding. This presentation will provide an opportunity to learn about a variety of efforts that have emerged across the country (in California, Louisiana, Virginia and Florida) to support early childhood mental health, including privately funded community initiatives, ÒfranchiseÓ models to cultivate local ownership of programming, focused investment in local workforce development, and developmentally informed adaptations of the traditional systems of care approach. Implications for policy, planning and sustainability will be addressed.
