Synopsis: This study examines counselor and administrator survey data related to implementation of evidence-based practices (EBPs) for substance abuse group interventions used with youth and their families. Data are taken from a case study of three specialty agencies in the Greater Tampa area. Findings indicate that agencies provided evidence-based groups to youth, but often selected EBPs that were designed for adults and tended to implement groups in a manner that may limit their fidelity and effectiveness. Results underscore the need to improve implementation strategies to ensure that evidence-based practices for group treatment of youth perform as intended in community settings.
