Synopsis: Using qualitative data obtained from focus groups, this study identifies how the stakeholders involved in the delivery of child and adolescent mental health care view the utilization of acute inpatient care: specifically who they consider should be referred for inpatient care, what should occur during inpatient care and the perceived outcomes generated by inpatient care. This information will be used to develop a measurement tool capable of assessing whether inpatient acute care successfully meets the expectations of various stakeholders for the delivery of care to children, adolescents, and their families
