Synopsis: The goal of this topical discussion is to integrate research, policy, and practice knowledge and perspectives on parental depression; to identify challenges facing parents, children, care givers, and communities living with depression through brief panelist presentations and audience participation; and to develop suggestions with topical discussion participants for solutions in the areas of research, policy, practice (screening, prevention, early intervention, and treatment), and advocacy (public education and awareness). A public health, family-focused, multi-generational conceptual framework for the discussion of parental depression will be provided by a multi-disciplinary group of panelist/colleagues from the Action Network for Parental Depression.
