Presentation Type: topical discussion
Synopsis: This facilitated discussion will focus on translation in systems of care, an activity that will only increase as more and more children and families enter systems of care speaking languages other than English. Participants are asked to provide feedback that will be invaluable to this important long-term process by discussing issues such as: (a) What are common themes and approaches for addressing linguistic competence within evaluation and service delivery? (b) How should decisions be made in translation by committee efforts, particularly given that Spanish varies so much from region to region? (c) How can we build stakeholder buy-in to the process of translation, particularly for translation by committee, which can be costly with respect to resources? and (d) What priority areas in particular should be emphasized in future translation endeavors, particularly with respect to the National Evaluation?
