Presenting: Sandra Keenan
All Authors for this paper: Sandra Keenan
Presentation Type: element of symposium
Synopsis: This presentation will focus on the use of school-wide systems of positive behavioral support as a strategy for implementing system of care values and principles and meeting the mental health needs of children and youth. School-wide PBIS involves the systematic instruction, practice and reinforcement of pro-social behaviors in school settings through a three-tiered prevention based model. This session will explore the expansion of those strategies through the wraparound process and integrated systems of care. Many states and school districts are bringing system of care approaches into schools through the three-tiered PBIS model, as a strategy for comprehensive school-based mental health that addresses prevention and early intervention as well as highly individualized interventions for students with complex needs and their families.
