Synopsis: This presentation describes findings from focus groups with transition-age youth (17-24) with mental health difficulties. A collaborative team, including youth and family member researchers, met with 59 youth and 47 family members in the Portland and Seattle areas to discover youth perspectives on a successful life in the community, barriers and supports for community integration, and goals and hopes for the future. Findings document youth's experiences of stigma, resilience, and empowerment. Implications address the roles of families and service providers in supporting successful transitions for youth.
