Synopsis: This presentation will focus on examining parent empowerment within a community collaborative research context. A continuum of researcher/community collaboration models will be presented. Discussion will focus on application of these models with respect to curricular development, training, research design, and data collection. Questions for consideration are: How is work in parent empowerment meeting the standards of collaborative research ? Are any models more applicable or realistic for specific elements of parent empowerment? What strategies can be utilized to meet standards of best practices in collaborative research? What are future directions for collaborative research in parent empowerment?
