Synopsis: The Illinois Division of Mental Health (DMH) completed a project assessing the feasibility of providing community based care in lieu of residential treatment for youth with psychotic disorders who qualified for an Individual Care Grant from the state. The project involved developing a partnership between parents of these youth, community mental health providers, and the state agency. The research project ultimately provided important data which allowed Illinois to strengthen its community based services. Three phases of this project will be reported upon: The planning process, the research process and outcomes and service changes.
