Synopsis: The goal of the current research is to provide a brief survey of alternative outcome approaches when evaluating the effectiveness of service systems. In accordance with this goal, the current research briefly reviews current methods of outcome evaluation evident in published literature regarding systems of care effectiveness (i.e., measures of statistical significance). In addition, the current research highlights the additive value of assessing clinically significant change in symptoms and functioning observed in service-Receiving individuals. Illustrations of key points will be demonstrated through outcome analyses from sample of children treated within the California Department of Mental Health.
