Synopsis: The purpose of this study was to identify the percentage of children and youth that enter systems of care with a comorbid chronic physical illness and the types of illnesses they report. Also, in order to further understand the relationship between serious emotional disturbance and chronic physical health problems, the individual and family characteristics of children with chronic physical illnesses were compared to those of children without such ailments. Clinical characteristics between the two groups at intake were also examined. Finally, a description of how grant communities incorporate physical health care into their systems of care is included.
