Synopsis: This paper reports results of the Together for Kids Project, a preschool mental health consultation intervention implemented in Worcester, Massachusetts. Forty preschool children in five preschool centers were targeted for services, based on a standardized teacher assessment of behavior, while 79 children on a waiting list served as controls. Preschool centers received consultation services, and an average of 21 hours of child and family intervention for target children. Pre-post measures of behavior showed significantly greater improvements in aggressive and maladaptive behaviors for target compared to waitlist children, but no change in target parent behavior or stress.
