Synopsis: A common topic of discussion among family members and professionals in the child mental health arena is the issue of having time for parenting. Recently, the Bureau of Labor Statistics published its Time Use Survey. The results indicate that typical parents of children and youth ages 6-17 years old spend, on average, 1/2 hour a day (fathers) and 1 hour a day (mothers) engaging in parenting tasks. The conference discussion will focus on how to address parenting as a societal issue. Experiences in doing so, especially successes, are sought from participants.
