Synopsis: The Family Guide Project was designed to increase access to mental health services for disadvantaged urban children of color. Using an adapted model of the Family Connections Project, Family Guide was designed to address major problems associated with mental health services, namely initiation and continuance. Prior to program operation a Parent focus group was held to identify what neighborhood parents felt were obstacles. The outcome measures of Family Barriers Checklist, F-Copes and Family Empowerment scale will be discussed.
