Synopsis: America's Children: Key National Indicators of Well-Being is produced each year by the Federal Interagency Forum on Child and Family Statistics as a guide for Congress and the nation, calling attention to critical issues affecting children by providing indicators on important aspects of children's lives (www.childstats.gov). However, America's Children has not had a mental health indicator. This past autumn, the Forum's Reporting Committee accepted a proposal to include a mental health indicator in America's Children, 2005. This presentation will describe the proposal for a mental health indicator and discuss the potential impact of including this indicator in America's Children.
