Synopsis: Intensive interviews with principal childcare administrators in 24 states explored the question, ìWhat are the patterns of supports for inclusion of children with mental health disorders in childcare settings?î Although training initiatives addressing inclusion and childrenís mental health were present in a majority of states, participants were still concerned about the paucity of trained providers. Initiatives also supported consultation provided by mental health personnel, health consultants, childcare resource and referral staff, and inclusion specialists. When states plan for and fund initiatives supplying training to care providers and mental health supports, children with challenges can successfully be included in community childcare.
