Synopsis: We analyzed data in a sample of 453 youth with serious emotional disorders who were enrolled in two System of Care projects in North Carolina to determine the influence of drug use on delinquent behavior. Regression analyses showed that drug use in the past six months, being male, being nonwhite, and having a parent with a felony history significantly predicted delinquency behavior. The association between delinquency behavior and drug use highlights the need for substance abuse treatment and prevention strategies in this population.
