Synopsis: This project describes outcomes over a two-year period for 118 youth residing in a large residential care facility in the midwest who had been receiving adjunctive therapeutic services for behavioral and emotional problems. Several outcome measures were collected longitudinally as well as weekly therapist and youth therapeutic alliance ratings. Although youth improved, there was little association between therapy outcome and therapy alliance ratings. Results indicate therapeutic alliance was relatively invariant over time regardless of the rater. Methodological problems and clinical implications will be discussed.
