Synopsis: There are concerns that the link between adolescent and adult mental health services is not smooth and that many youth with serious emotional disturbance (SED) get "lost." However, detailed information about the highest risks groups is needed for policy and program planning, as well as advancing research in this area. This study examines characteristics of four high risk groups of youth with SED in Tennessee's Medicaid system as the first step in a program of research to examine their transition to the adult service system.
