Presentation Type: topical discussion

Synopsis: This topical discussion will provide a forum for discussing the training of parent professionals on parent empowerment techniques. A somewhat restricted definition of an empowered parent is one who has the knowledge, skills, and agency to effectively advocate on behalf of a child with special needs. Is this a sufficient definition? What is parent empowerment? And, more importantly, how de we enact it in real world settings?
