Synopsis: The purpose of the research was to assess the validity of the Behavioral and Emotional Rating Scale-2 (BERS-2) by contrasting the youth and parent ratings of children with and without emotional disturbances (ED). In Study 1, children with (N = 71) and without (N = 386) ED provided self-ratings. In Study 2, parents of children with (N = 82) and without (N = 411) ED rated their children. Results indicated that the BERS-2 can differentiate between children with and without ED, and this is an appropriate measure of children's emotional and behavioral strengths.
