Synopsis: The State of Tennessee has created three Centers of Excellence for Children in State Custody (COE) to assist the state in meeting federally required Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) services for children under 21, in and at risk for state custody. Services include limited direct services to children with complex cases (psychiatric and psychological evaluations and psychiatric medication management), case consultation to providers and state caseworkers, training, and care coordination. This presentation will focus on the use of academic resources to improve the quality of children’s services and the efforts to improve a fragmented children’s service system.
