Synopsis: Girls and boys Town initiated a longitudinal outcome study in 1981 and published initial results approximately ten years later. Currently, another wave of data collection was completed and outcomes of former Girls and Boys Town youth were compared to clinical and non-clinical populations. Surveys were completed with 249 individuals, which equated to 53.7% of the eligible population participating. Overall, the results indicated that adults who had been in residential care were similar to the national population on a number of outcomes in the areas of citizenship and criminality, and a longer length of stay in the residential program related to more positive long-term outcomes.
