Presentation Type: topical discussion

Synopsis: The current topical discussion presents the "National Wraparound Initiative". In doing so, the presenters hope to aim a spotlight on the issue of ensuring clarity-and quality-around the wraparound process for families with serious emotional problems. The presenters will describe the rationale and methods for the National Wraparound Initiative, as well as preliminary outputs, such as terms and definitions; an organized, multidisciplinary theory-and research base; and synthesis of the unique steps in the wraparound process. As discussant, Jane Adams, Ph.D., will introduce the session with her own rationale for better defining standards and procedures for wraparound- based on her own experiences as a family advocate, program head, and member of the national Surgeon General's Commission-and facilitate a discussion that involved all who attend.
