Synopsis: Using the child adolescent functional assessment scale (CAFAS_, this study examined functional improvements from intake to six months for two groups of children referred to a school-based preventive mental health intervention: those with moderate or severe problems in multiple domains (n=129) and those without (n=289). Findings indicated significant overall differences between the two groups at intake and in four relevant domains. Both groups showed a reduction in impairment over time and between 47% and 66% of those with multiple domain impairments achieved a successful outcome of no or mild impairment in school, at home, in interaction with others, and in regulation of moods.

Each of the four school-based sites differ in their organization, supervision, and service delivery, although all have the same evaluation component and feedback process. The programmatic outcomes of the School-based Wraparound teams will be discussed, as well as lessons learned, challenges, plans for sustainability, and a brief case study.
